RHI Class Action Lawsuit – Can You Make A Claim Against the Department of Economy And Competition?
RHI Class Action Lawsuit is a lawsuit which has been filed against the Department of Economy and Competition by over 2,000 residents that live in Northern Ireland. The residents were all forced to pay for the cost of the installation of faulty, but legally mandated, water heating systems, but were not told of this fact until after they had paid for it.
When the Department of Economy and Competition (DEAC) did not tell the residents that they could bring a personal injury claim against them for the damages, they then sued the department for false advertising. The complaint says that the government was involved in a process known as “public relations” and failed to inform people that they had to pay for their own repairs.
The plaintiffs argue that they were mislead about the charges that they would have to pay when they signed up for the system. They say that the system required that the individual pays for the whole process, not just the initial outlay. They say that the DRC breached their right to privacy by telling them they had to pay for the entire project, including installation, when in fact they only have to pay for part of the installation.

There is a legal requirement that the company which installed the system should be able to give you a certificate that shows that the entire installation process has been fully carried out. As a result of the RHI Class Action Lawsuit, the Department of Economy and Competition have now changed the law regarding refunds. to ensure that individuals who are not fully satisfied with their purchase will not have to pay for the entire system. It also means that people who have been deceived into purchasing such a system will not have to pay for the whole cost.
