Paul Harding’s background
Harding was born in 1967, near Boston, Massachusetts, and grew up in a small town. He was an apprentice to a grandfather watchmaker. During his early years, he played the drums with a band called Cold Water Flat and attended the University of Massachusetts in Amherst. Harding went on to study writing at the Iowa Writers’ Workshop, where he studied under some of the most notable writers of the time.
In addition to writing, Harding enjoys jazz, which he listened to in his younger days. The drummer Elvin Jones of John Coltrane is among the greatest, according to Harding.
